The College Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) is a State of Florida mandated test that all undergraduate students are required to satisfy by graduation. The English Language Skills, Reading, and Mathematics subtests are available on the computer for both first–time examinees and retakes. Essay is the only subtest not offered on the computer. This test is given daily by appointment only.

When is the CAT-CLAST offered?
The CAT-CLAST is offered five (5) days a week (Monday through Friday) by appointment only. It is also usually offered the third Saturday of every month. There is no stand-by or walk-in testing available.
What are the office hours of the University Testing Center?
The office hours for information and registration are Monday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and usually the third Saturday of every month from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
How much does the CAT-CLAST cost?
The CAT-CLAST costs $30.00 for each appointment. During one appointment, you can take any combination of the three subtests available. For example, it will cost you $30.00 to take all three subtests during one appointment. However, if you want to take each subtest on separate days, it will cost $30.00 per appointment.
Is my fee refundable?
The test fee is non-refundable. The eligibility form will expire 30 days from the date it was received by the University Testing Center
What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?
All tests must be scheduled and completed within 30 days of receipt of your payment. You are allowed one reschedule. If you fail to arrive at the test site, or arrive to be seated 15 minutes later than your scheduled test time, you will not receive a refund. To reschedule a test, you must call at least 24 hours before your appointment time. If you reschedule within 24 hours of your scheduled exam, you will forfeit your testing fee. If you cancel or miss your appointment, you will not receive a refund.
How can I study for the CAT-CLAST?
There are CLAST preparation materials available at libraries and bookstores. Most of these materials cost between $10.00 and $35.00. In addition, the Student Academic Resource Center (SARC) at UCF, located in Howard Phillips Hall, room 115, offers workshops, practice exams on the computer, and tutoring. SARC can be reached at (407) 823-5130. Workbooks ($17.00 Math only) are available at the University Testing Center (UTC) at UCF, located in Howard Phillips Hall, room 106. UTC can be reached at (407) 823-5109. Information is also available on the web site www.sarc.sdes.ucf.edu. Other colleges and universities also offer preparation courses.
How do I register to take the CAT-CLAST?
All UCF students must register for the CAT-CLAST in person. Registration is completed in Phillips Hall, room 106. You should bring a legal picture I.D. (such as a driver’s license or a passport) and a UCF student I.D. The pre-registration process takes about 20 minutes. Appointments are usually scheduled 2-3 weeks after completing the pre-registration paperwork (depending upon appointment availability).
What must I bring on test day?
You will NOT be admitted unless you have TWO forms of valid picture identification. One of these must be a legal I.D. such as a driver’s license or passport.
Can I bring calculators, dictionaries, or other test aids?
You may NOT bring calculators (including calculator watches), reference books, rulers, compasses, etc. on the test day. Scratch paper and pencils will be provided for those taking the Mathematics subtest.
How soon will I get my score?
The unofficial score will be available to you as soon as the test is completed. The official score will be mailed to you in approximately three (3) to four (4) weeks. It will take approximately four (4) to six (6) weeks for your score to be update at UCF.
How often can I take the CAT-CLAST?
You are eligible to take the CAT-CLAST subtests every thirty-one (31) days until you pass (subject to scheduling availability). There will be a fee each time you take the test. Scores earned in a subsequent retake within thirty-one (31) days will be invalid.
If you are a student with a documented disability, you MUST submit written documentation from your current institution with your CAT-CLAST Registration Form before you can schedule an appointment.
