TEAS

Test of Essential Academic Skills

Beginning September 1, 2009 the TEAS exam will be offered at the University Testing Center

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a scholastic aptitude assessment that can be used as one component of the selection process for admitting students into the College of Nursing.

It is a four part, 170 multiple choice, computer-based, supervised assessment that consists of subtest in the following areas:

  • Reading Comprehension - paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions
  • Mathematics - whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion
  • Science - science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science
  • English Skills - punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling

Test Dates:

TEAS is offered Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00am, by appointment only. Students must register to take the TEAS at least one day prior to the date of which they would like to take the exam. There is no same day testing available.

TEAS Registration Procedures:

Step 1 Registration

  • Students must register with ATI prior to scheduling for the TEAS test. Scheduling is not permitted without pre-registering.
  • Log on to www.atitesting.com
  • Click “Create New Account” and complete the user information page

Note: You must retain your username and password as you will need them the day of the exam .

  • Download and complete the TEAS registration form.

Step 2 Cost

The total cost of a TEAS exam is $50.00.

A test administration cost of $50.00 must accompany the Registration Form in order to schedule an appointment.

Payment in person must be made in the form of Cash, Check, Money Order, or Credit Card during the available hours of the Cashier’s Office. For Cashier’s Office hours click here.

Payment by mail must be made in the form of Check or Money Order.

Please note: Students submitting payment by mail will be notified by the University Testing Center to schedule an appointment upon receipt of payment and registration form.

All transactions are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date or exam.

Step 3 – Special Registration

If you are a student with a documented disability, YOU MUST submit written documentation from your current institution with your TEAS Registration Form and payment before you can schedule an appointment. Step 4 Registration Submission

Mail in your TEAS registration form and payment to the University Testing Center, or visit UTC located in Howard Phillips Hall, Room 106.

Test Day

  • Students must report to The University Testing Center located in Howard Phillips Hall, Room 106, 30 minutes prior to scheduled exam time.
  • Late arrivals will not be permitted to test.
  • You must bring valid photo ID- No Exceptions (See Identification Requirements below)
  • You must have your Username and Password .
  • No calculators allowed.

Identification Requirements:
YOU MUST bring two forms of personal identification on test day in order to be admitted to the testing room – primary and secondary.

Primary identification must be a government-issued photo bearing ID. The ID must include your name, signature, and a recognizable photograph. Acceptable forms of primary ID include:

  • Current driver’s license
  • State or federal ID card
  • Current passport
  • Military ID with photo and signature
  • Tribal ID
  • Naturalization card or certification of citizenship

Acceptable forms of secondary ID include:

  • Employee photo ID
  • College ID
  • Credit card
  • Social Security card
  • Military ID with signature only
  • Unused ID from the primary choices above

Rescheduling, Missed Appointments, Cancellations, and Refunds:
All tests must be scheduled and completed within 30 days of receipt of your payment. If you fail to arrive at the test site, or arrive to be seated 15 minutes later than your scheduled test time, you will not receive a refund. You are allowed one reschedule. To reschedule a test, you must call at least 24 hours before your appointment time. If you reschedule within 24 hours of your scheduled exam or cancel, you will forfeit your testing fee. You can contact the University Testing Center at 407-823-5109.

Re-test Policy:

  • One (1) time per semester (30-days in between testing)
  • Maximum of 3 total attempts (including first attempt and subsequent re-takes)

This waiting period for the Re-Test Policy provides the student with an opportunity to spend additional time preparing for the exam. A separate registration form and payment is required for each re-test appointment.

Score Reports:

You will be able to review your scores immediately after you are done with your exam. A score report will also be sent to the institution you selected. Additionally, you will need to retain your ATI User ID and Password in order to access and print your scores for future use.
